A set of 48 'blobs' each with a subtraction calculation written on them.
 
Use alongside Dienes (tens and ones) resources. Children look at the question and then find the correct number of Dienes that they need to start with before subtracting. Remove the correct number of ones and then the correct number of tens to show subtraction. If the children have a question that requires exchanging (such as 67 - 28), encourage them to exchange a ten rod for ten ones so that they can then subtract the correct number of ones.
 
Half of the questions require exchanging (borrowing), half do not.
 
Suitable for Key Stage One children (Years 1 and 2) as well as children in lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4).
